I got laid off my big girl corporate job, so I wrote a book about it. What better way to wade through your incredibly muddled emotions about a huge life change than to channel them into a novel? And here I am to share what I've created in my unemployment era with you, in hopes to connect and share that just because life throws you a couple curve balls, it doesn't mean you can't turn them around into home runs.

Growing up, Lacey Mellock wanted nothing more than to be a published author, even more so with Delwire Publishing, one of the largest, most reputable publishing companies in the States and, embarrassingly so, where childhood crush, Brookes Hall happens to be Chief Editor. A newly unemployed woman muddling through the somewhat stagnant career pool in small-town, Crestshore, Illinois, Lacey takes off to New York City for Delwire's annual pitch competition with nothing more than a binder of a manuscript penned in high-school—a steamy romance novel about small town lovers.

Rejected from a publishing deal, Brookes offers to coach Lacey into bringing her books dull romantic scenes up to Delwire’s standard. With nothing to lose, other than a few unavailing job offers awaiting her return, Lacey accepts—though what she doesn’t know is the type of coaching Brookes has in store for her…and his penthouse bedroom.
